It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Craig MacEwen of Stratford, PEI, age 48 years, at the QE II Hospital in Halifax, NS on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Despite only being with us for a short 48 years, Craig touched many lives with his heartwarming smile, his giving heart and his ability to make everyone feel welcome and special. Craig will be forever remembered by his wife Juliana (Affleck) MacEwen, his boys Kurtis (Emily) and his beautiful granddaughter Phia, and Zack (Lindsay), as well as Kayla Weatherbie, his four-legged best friend Ollie, brothers Corey MacEwen (Lori) and Chris MacEwen, sister Donna MacEwen, father- and mother-In-law Clifford and Velma (Coffin) Affleck, brother-in-Law Jeff Affleck (Crystal), nephews and niece Lucas, Tristan, Gavin, Ethan and Ellena. Predeceased by his loving parents Roger and Heather (Compton) MacEwen, grandparents Preston and Gladys MacEwen and Bob and Helen Compton.  Fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles and cousins, cherished by many friends and remembered by anyone who had the privilege to know him.

“I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with you, and then realized you spent the rest of your life with me. I smile because I know you loved me until the day you went away and will keep loving me until the day we meet again.”

A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

Anyone who has met or known Craig would know that hockey has been the centre of the MacEwen family for over 20 years. There was no other place that Craig MacEwen ever wanted to be than at the rink watching his boys play hockey. He was the proudest Dad when he got to watch his boys excel on the ice. If there was ever something that could show how much he loved and supported the game of hockey, it would be the My Biggest Fan Foundation. He was always his boys’ biggest fan and now his family is honouring him to let his legacy live on forever by helping any child who needs the support to play this great game we all love. The My Biggest Fan Foundation is being set up in Craig’s honour to provide financial assistance for any child to be able to play hockey. Whether it’s hockey registration, hockey gear, or a few extra dollars for traveling to a tournament, this foundation will support any child in any way it can. That is exactly what Craig would want.
