After a short battle with cancer, the death occurred peacefully at the Souris Hospital of Samuel (Sam) Trowbridge on Saturday, July 18, 2020. Sam was born on June 23, 1948 in Tack’s Beach, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. Lovingly remembered by sister Jane Lockyer (NL), brother Robert (Florence), NL, Beatrice Abbott (Joe) (NL), Freeman (Marion) of PEI as well as many Nieces, Nephews, Grand-nieces, Grand-nephews, Cousins & Friends in both PEI and Newfoundland. Pre-deceased by father Albert, mother Marcella (Williams), brother John (Alma), Ernest, sisters Bernice, Suzanne and brother-in-law Freeman Lockyer all of NL. Sam decided to leave NL in 1979 to travel to PEI to fish with his brother Freeman which he fully enjoyed for many years until he decided to pursue the position as Night Watchman and Security Guard at various locations. Sam truly cherished time spent with his family (especially the smaller ones) and always remembered each of their birthdays with a phone call and cheerful “Happy Birthday”. This same message was also conveyed to many of his wide circle of friends. Sam also had a great passion for Card Plays and always shared stories and had a great laugh whether he won or not. Sam truly enjoyed his many trips to Robins and Tim’s with his circle of friends who dropped by to pick him up for coffee, various card games and road trips around the Island he called “Home”. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to North Shore Funeral Home in Morell, PEI. No visitation or funeral by Sam’s personal request. Sam’s send off will take place on Friday, July 24th leaving Annandale Harbour at 2pm to his resting place just off Spry Point. Special thanks for the professional service and excellent care provided by the doctors, nursing and housekeeping staff of Souris Hospital during Sam’s final days. The kindness and care you all provided to Sam and his family was outstanding.
